partition magic 7 question

I have recently installed partition magic on my PC and have created a new partition fixed drives are C & D. my question is, if I format my C drive for any reason will the D drive be lost and the data on it.

Right. That is the reason we partition in the first place. To keep data and applications/OS separate in case of any problem.

Each partition can be separately formatted.
