Newbie needs help selecting a video card

I am getting a new computer and one feature I really want is to be able to record tv shows to my computer and I have seen video cards that will do this but I really have no idea which ones are good and which are bad. If you could please give me any suggestions or experiences with these cards I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

I don't have experence with it personally, but the ATI Radeon 9700 All In Wonder card is the one you would want. (Note, it is expensive, but worth it!)

Welcome to TechIMO!!

Get your cash out if you're going for that one! ac is right, though, it's the bestest Any ati all in wonder is going to work for capturing video, so just give them all a look and choose which is suited for your needs.

Welcome to the board,
How much were you thinking of spending?
The above card is very good for capturing and also very good for gaming. One disadvantage of the AIW or VIVO cards is that, in a year or so, when you want to upgrade you video card, you lose the ability to record ... so if you want one that you can keep when you upgrade you could consider aseperate TV tuner card instead. Either way will do the job for you - let us know what you are thinking.
Elad.

Hey guys, thanks for the responses, well right now im in the process of customizing my PC through dell, but they only offer 2 video cards for the desktop i want

New 128MB DDR ATI RADEON™ 9800 Graphics Card with TV-Out and DVI

New 128MB DDR ATI RADEON™ 9800 Pro Graphics Card with TV-Out and DVI

No, they only have TV out for viewing on a TV.

here is a nice tv capture card..comes with remote control etc...and software. http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...ription=tv2000

(its the $51 one, from Leadtek)

The people who have these rate them very highly.

it is not a video card per se, cuz it doesnt have video out...so you would just order your dell and then add this card yourself in an open pci slot.

I just ordered one but I havent gotten it yet.

The card has tv in, s-video in, fm in etc.

Will let you record all the tv you want.

JP
