Seagate hard drive probs

I have a 4gb seagate hard drive, when i connect it to the p.c it wont detect it, i ran cmos setup auto detect parameters, but says cd-rom is the only thing installed, i changed the bios on the hard drive as well but it still dont detect this hard drive, it detects others but not this one.

Any ideas?

Thanks

May be a gonner. How do you have this set up? Slave? Master? Cable select? What do you mean you changed the BIOS on the drive?

Is this the ONLY HDD on your system?

Yeah it will be the only HDD, it's just a p.c i'm putting together and the hard drive was lying about for a bit.

well if the drive is the only thing on the cable then set it to master try it on the primary ide channel and if it still doesn't work try it on the secondary. are you suire you have a good cable and that the motherboard is good. after you've done all that and it still doesn't work then I'd say you have a bad hdd

Can you try the drive in another system to see if it's good?
