Color Accuracy

I sometimes do graphics and video editing work on my PC, and am really interested in an LCD display due to recent space constraints. But I've been told that LCD's don't always accurate depict colors the way they should be, and therefore aren't very good for graphics work and stuff.

Is this true? Does this only apply to some monitors?

Let me know... I really want an LCD and want to know what I should do.

I find that LCD's have a crisper and clearer image detail than CRT's. Try reading around and see what the general consensus is.

Practically all manufacturers claim that their monitors display 16 million colors. The ceiling for most of them used to be 260,000 colors, a level at which the Neovo F-15 is still holding steady. It makes do with a 16-bit color display, although it claims to be able to display 24 bits. Overall, though, the displays appear to have made enormous strides in the past year, even if they haven't yet been able to match the CRT's color spectrum. Instead of displaying colors that melt seamlessly into one another, images evidence a grainy, speckled texture. You get a similar effect if you reduce the number of colors in Windows.

LCD panels rarely are 24-bit color, most are only 18-bit, so color blends won't look as good as they should.

But the main problem is the much narrower gamut. The colors just won't be right. That's why all the graphics artists stay with CRT monitors.
