I don't really like the games where you go through all the ages of mankind from the stone age to the future. I think concentrating one just like 3 ages (Dark Age, Feudal Age and Imperial Age) is the best. Age of Empires is the best at that.

I voted Yes because it's a fun game The transitions b/t ages makes it fun as there's no "prehistoric" units from the past, like EE did. I have problems with the game, what happens is that when I start the game, the intro would start up, and if I don't hit the ESC key fast enough it'll play and lock my computer up, sucks, but works for me |

I'm not an RTS person myself, but I liked it. I had issues with it crashing, but I just saved often and it was ok. I never won wars though.... My cities got taken and I became a bad bad person. I liked Pharoah more, I think.

as for the crashing, did you try the latest patch (?1.12?) ? And the latest rivers for your gfx card ?

Pharoah is a fun game too, never could get the hang of it tho.

I love it, especially how in "Conquer the World" the computer AIs will sell you territory directly to their capital so you can easily take over their empure
The bots aren't all that smart, though. One of the bots nuked another one enough times that it hit the armageddon clock and we all lost |

Rise of Nations is really an awesome game. I've had a blast playing it, and even used some of the sounds for my Windows sound scheme.... hehe
But I voted "no" it's not the best.
I'd have to say my favorite is Age of Mythology right along side Age of Empires II: The Conquerors.
I've been playing AoM ever since it first came out, and I STILL can't stop playing it.
