I have tried deleting the cookies and history but the pornographic site is still set as my home page when I open internet exporer. I have Windows XP Home.

Does anyone know of any third party software that will help me with my situation?

try adaware or spybot and also goto msconfig and uncheck it in there if you see the program tell me if you need links.

Should fix the problem

In your browser, go to tools > Internet options. The general tab should be up. In the top section, change the URL the page you want for your home page. click apply, then OK.

Restart you browser. If this does not work, it might be set in the registry. At that point, you might have to hack the reg. I do not recommend doing this unless you are familiar accessing the reg. and have made a backup of the registry.

IE

Go to Internet explorer icon on your desktop and right click on it go to properties and left click on it see where it says address you can manually change the address here back to your original homepage. After you change the address then press the apply buttom at the bottom of the page. Now try again to see if that took care of your problem. Imo

THanks! I'll try this weekend and see how it goes. I've already tried the URL manual change but it doesn't work. So i think it is in the Registry. IM going to try Adaware first then SPyware.

thanks!

Your browser has been hijacked. Some spyware has been loaded on to your computer, too, I'll bet. This has happened to me. The cure is probably in a registry hack. First, load Spybot S&D and run that, but make sure you update your definitions file before you run it. Also do a search on the name of the site that has taken over your browser. Don't go to the site, though. Instead, look for forums and removal tools. If you go to the offending site again, it will reload itself on your computer. Xupiter is one of those browser hijackers that won't go away. Spybot can get rid of it. The problem is that they divert your browsing thru their server, and steal your credit card numbers, passwords, etc. I would not use your computer for much of anything until you get rid of that problem. And remember to be careful that, when you search for the solution, you don't get fooled into going back into their site. They are tricky. Usually, their program will go back out each time you reboot and reload itself. It disperses itself onto your hard drive with pointers between each copy, so that you have a very hard time deleting it. It will most assuredly require a registry hack. Try this site for starters: http://www.spywareinfo.com/. There is a lot of good info there.

Yeah, a FORMER friend of one of my closest friend's used my friend's computer to download porn. I went over there and there were 167 components found my AAW, including 1 tray process, 14 registry keys, and 2 registry values. JEEZ! I also got AVG and it found a Trojan horse dialer. My friend later recieved a bill in the mail as a result of his former "friend" dialing the porn company. They haven't spoken since. I know the guy, he's a complete pervert and man did he screw up my friend's computer.
