your opinion on my PC parts

i'm building a new rig and just wanted to run my proposed specs by you guys first. Keep in mind I'm not modding anything like OC'ing.

here are the specs so far:

Asus A7N8X MoBo for barton's -- $83 newegg
2 x 512 kingston DDR PC2100 Ram -- $130 newegg
AMD Athlon XP 2500+ "Barton" 333 FSB -- $90 newegg
Powercolor ATI Radeon 9200 256mb DDR 8X AGP -- $141 newegg
VANTEC AeroFlow VA4-C7040 -- $28 newegg

I want to make sure everything is compatible. tell me if they aren't.

--As always your help is much appreciated

I would definately get faster memory, at least pc2700 or preferably pc3200 if you can afford it. Just make sure it's quality like Kingston, Mushkin etc. I think I've read posts about some problems using Corsair memory on that mobo but I'm not positive.

yes you will want better memory . at min pc2700 . also i would get a ti4200 over the 9200 it is faster . and lost of memory don't mean much is you have a slower gpu . and you can get a ti4200 for almost half the price . otherwise it all looks good .

I just founf out the case i was given is not usable. so i'm gonna get a CHIEFTEC Server Chasis (Aluminum Workstation Tower with Plastic Front Cover) Blue w/acrylic window from newegg.com (along with most of my other parts). I figure since I was going to have to buy fans and a PSU anyway this was a good deal, especially with a 450w PSU. Is this?

if you get the deluexe board you will not need to get a soundcard as the card onboard is a great card.

nice case

but for a couple bucks more you can get the

Chenming (you just have to wait till they come in stock and they are worth the wait. i love mine)

same case as the chieftech, comes with 420 watt power supply and 4 led's fans.

two in the back, one on the side and one in the front. oh yah and the powersupply fan is blue too

yes that is a good deal on case with psu.. I say u r almost set.. u just need to get a good sound card.. while onboard sound has gotten better.. it is no replacement for a good sound card.. as for speakers.. I would recommend Logitecs z640.. or u want to throw down a little money.. get the Z680.. those are 400 watts of wall vibrating surround sound.. with Dolby, THX DTS.. just about anything u would need for games or movies..

I actually already have have an Audigy card with a 4 speaker creative setup that i'm gonna transplant into the new system. I might upgrade to the audigy 2 platinum card later on (when i have the cash), cuz i want the front panel interface and the remote.

I think I may just wait for the red chenming case. it comes with two more fans than the other one, and I like the idea of having a red case

Why dont you just spend $50 more and get the ati radeon 9500 pro 128mb. Just scores about 1500 3dmarks(2001se) lower than ati radeon 9700 pro. You shouldnt get the vantec aeroflow if your not going to OC. Its just gonna end up being a $30 hunk of metal. Spend $8 more for the retail version of 2500+ barton. You get a hsf and warranty.
