Send a message via AIM to nukes Send a message via Yahoo to nukes
1. Navigate to the directory you want to share in explorer.
2. Right click and choose properties.
3. Select the sharing tab and set it up how you want.
4. go to the other machine and either browse through network neighborhood untill you see the share, map it and you're set. Alternativley (if you like the CLI) type
net use h: \\server\share
where h: is the drive letter you want to map the share to on the local machine, server is the netbios name of the machine with the share, and share is the share name you entered in the sharing tab.
Now you're set.

make sure you have file sharing enable, right click on my network places and click propertises. you should see it installed

(it should already be install)

to share off of a folder right click on the folder click sharing. enable the option to share

to access it from another computer

click start run then type

\\computername\shared folder name

i.e

\\jaysin\music

or if you want to access the whole hard drive

\\jaysin\C$

im to slow
when it ask for the log in and password, use the log in and password for the computer you are accessing.

(note: make sure the computers are in the same workgroup. makes things easier)

im to slow

In Explorer right click on the folders or drives you want to share and click on: sharing>share this folder and give it a unique name such as "C on PII 450." Set permissions as you wish. Do the same with all drives, folders, and or files you want to share.

In your case I assume you want to share the drives so all you'll need to do is enable sharing on each drive.

Then in order to share (assuming your network is running) is to open My Netwokr Places and open Computers Near Me. You should be able to see the other computer and open whatever you have shared.

HTH,

Bill

If the OS is Win2K or Win98, the root of every drive is shared by default, it's called an Administrative Share. I use them all the time at work. For instance, if there is a computer called PC1, and you want to get to files on that computer, do Start / Run
then type in \\PC1\C$
if you know a password for that computer, administrator, guest, any open account, you can access anything on that drive.....
the simplest way, is to map a drive to the administrative share.
