if you have the full winxp pro version, then all you have to do is boot from the cd and follow the intructions.

Do ya have XP Pro Full or Upgrade?
If ya got full ya should be able to bootup from the CD, format the partitions and install... If ya got the upgrade you need to install a previous windows & "updated" to XP...

Actually soulja if you boot from the XP cd you can set your partitions / format whatever.
But you do not need to install Win ME first. If this is an XP Upgrade during the setup the program will say something to the effect of "Windows didn't find a previous version please insert the disk or path to where your install is" slap your Win ME cd in and point it to the cd rom drive.
It'll check the cd then continue on with the install.
I've done this many times.

Are you using a startup disk to boot your computer? If so, don't. Just instert the XP disk and it will boot from cd. Then you can install from there. It will install the same as ME but you don't type anything in DOS , you don't even use it .

i do boot from disk but when the xp disc or any other disc is in it doesn't boot, it just loads the load up screen and just ignored the cd. thats why i use the disk to get its attention

Have you went in BIOS and set it to boot from your cd drive first? It should work , thats how I install my XP . I boot from cd , then insert a windows product when it asks for it and bingo ....clean , full install.
