my personal tool kit includes known good sticks of memory pc-100 and pc 133 just cause need ddr but don't have an extra yet. Known good drive cables both ide and floppy. Floppies with hdd diagnostics from maxtor and wd. Win 98 startup disk and a small ide hard drive just for checking ide channels and such. Known good video card, known good modem, known good nic. known good usb cables, cat 5 cables, power cords and an atx tester.

I also carry lots of jumpers and an extra cmos battery dunno why but its there. Voltage meter a few screw drivers and a pair of none conducting hemostats and a grounding wrist strap.

I only work on some friends computers and do my own projects so most of the stuff i need is here so I'll add a few things depending on the problem they describe.

a notebook is also a must but i don't have one. But when going to someones house its always a great thing to have I've had many of occasions that I wish I had one with me.

i'm sure there are alot more you might need like i said thats a basic setup i carry in of all things a make-up case I got at a thrift store. It works great its a hard box like a ttoold box that latches shut and has a tray that comes out. It has lil compartments for screws and a few slots i can put memory in I also carry an assortment of case screws and a few other odds n ends.
doesn't look techiee in anway but it works
