Replacing Faulty Codecs

Ok i downloaded an Xvid video the other day and was looking around for how to play it. I found a codec pack and installed it and all seemed good. until i tried streaming video in internet explorer a few days later. It crashes my IE . Everytime i try to stream video in anything from winamp to windows media player it doesnt work. Can anyone tell me how to replace or delete these codecs so that my comp works flawlessly again? Im using Windows XP pro SP1 if that helps any. Thanks!!

Right click on my computer, goto hardware --> device manager --> sound, video. and game devices --> right click on video codecs --> properties, now goto the properties tab, it should bring up a list and you can delete them.

B4 you do this you might want to just make sure that the codec pack isnt conveniently listed in the add/remove programs list in the control panel, this would make sure it removed everything (if more was installed than the codec .dll)
