Quake3A disallowed name
Does anyone who playes quake3arena or Q#A server have any idea why the name "unaimed_player" is disallowed under punkbuster?? There is a great server that i visitwhich requires me to change the name (within 10 seconds no less) or be kicked.
Please remember that its just letters no ascii qualifiers etc, just the name.
Anyone with an idea why ??

Maybe it's a bot?
The spelling probably indicates it's a bot ('aim')...

The server didn't set it kick pppl with the parameters "player", but kick ANY name with "player" in it. Take off the R in player and try to play. Just to make sure.

Hi Plutonium,
Welcome to Techimo. I'm the guy trying to get on the server. I have 3 Id's I generally use but this server shot them all down.
1_pissed_player, Un_Aimed_Player, and the one above.
The server kept kicking me before I could change my name after changing it 4-5 times(and waiting for PB to let me back on to the server then kicking me again) I just gave up and went elsewhere.
The server gives me a good ping(10-40), most of the others ping about 60-100 with many higher than that.

Hi mike,
Didnt say it(thought I did) but I tried a name without the _ in it "unaimedplayer" but that still kicked me. I havent had a chance to play yet so I dont know if its the "player" designation yet. I'm hoping to try it sometime today.

Thanks Joker,
your idea that it was the word player was on the money.
Finally got a chance to play tonight and yes it was the word "player". By reomoving the "R" from my name I was able to log on and play just fine.
I am not sure why that is though. What makes the word "player " so bad ??

Probably because many server admins want players to identify themselves, so they place a blanket ban on all names with the word "player" in them. Hence the reason you're getting kicked.

I've seen a lot of strange admins out there.
Some of them don't like you having the word "aim" in your name either.
