Error message

For about a week and a half now I've been getting this error message whenever I close my browser.

The instruction at "0x761024a6" referenced memory at "0x013e4114". The memory could not be "read".

I am running Windows XP Pro on a GigaByte GA-7ZX socket A board with a Athlon 1.0GHz processor with 384 MB's of SDRAM.
I am running Internet Exploror 6. The really weird thing is that my mouse only goes under the message and not over it so I have to position my mouse under the message where the "ok" button would be to click "ok". Does anyone have an idea what's going on?

Could possibly a video driver problem or conflict.

Try reinstalling the video driver.

The only time I have a problem is when I'm closing my browser. A friend of mine told me to re-install IE6. I tried this Avant browser briefly, then uninstalled it and I think that may have started the error messages after that.

Go into Add remove programs and when you select IE it will give you a repair option.

Also, you could take a look at C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\PLUGINS to see if anything looks suspisicous....like reminent dll files from the Avant browser that should no longer be there. Anything in this folder will attempt to load up when IEXPLORER is launched.

I have these two items in the plugins folder,
NPDocBox.dll and nppdf32.dll. The NPDocBox is a intertrust redemption wizard and the other is a Adobe Acrobat plug-in.

As far as going to Add/Remove programs IE6 is built into the XP OS so it doesn't show up in add/remove programs. I would have to download the IE6 and re-install it.

Sounds like the other browser you installed overwrote an IE dll file. You'll probably have to reinstall IE6 to get the file back. The error message is due to a pointer directing the application to a blank memory address.
The alternative is to use System Restore to go back to the point before you installed the other browser, if you have a restore point saved, that is.

Well, that seemed to work 'till today when I started receiving the error message again. I haven't installed anything or uninstalled anything..........hmmmmm, this is crazy. Does anyone else have a clue as to what is going on?
