Flash Intro is off-timed

http://www.gasou.edu/~dkeeling/intro.html

The restaurant website we're working on...

To make it, we edited the sound file to find the beats, put the time of each beat into an excel spreadsheet, and calculated which frame each beat falls on. (24 fps)

Whenever we play it in the flash editor (by pressing enter), it plays PERFETLY

However, when we publish-preview or export a .swf file, the timing of the sound and the animations is off by quite a few frames, and it's more and more noticable as the clip goes on.

I thought flash was a sort of WYSIWYG editor? Why is everything so...off?

Hi, Emc2, hope this helps; the links may provide a workaround for you.

Flash audio synch support

http://www.virtual-fx.net/vfx/tutori...6_20020102.php

excerpt: ... The tricky part is that no matter what frame rate you pick, actual playback is dependent on the user's processor and the complexity of the movie. So even though you may choose 12fps, your audience may only experience 10fps, or 6fps. This poses a problem when trying to synchronize audio and graphic elements in your Flash movie.

I will -- the music was my partner's idea, the bouncing to the beat was mine

lol, you're welcome, Emc2. I also like your intro.

have you thought about having the music fade out instead of just cutting off at the end?

personally... in this case, i don't feel the 'beat' must be exact with the throbbing letters to be effective... it all sounds and looks good as-is. only thing i'd try to do is get the ending of the music and letter throbbing to sync, tho... just mho

will prolly help to keep your sanity, too

glad everyone likes the music, we'll probably do a fadeout for the second half-- the music will go on from there and the movie into a different sequence (I know this half isn't even complete), although the thumping letters will still remain there. If I can find the previous version floating around you'll see a vast improvement from there, and when Emc2 came up with the thumping I was very excited. I'm about to peruse the links and you'll prolly see an updated version on the server by 1:00 am EST I always teased Emc2 for spending so much time in the forums but looks like I'm going to follow in his footsteps
