Roland XP-10 MIDI Problems

Hello everyone,

I have a Roland XP-10 Synth, a PC running Windows 2000 with an SB Live! Soundcard (with the front panel).

I'm trying to no avail to get the keyboard to play through the computer. I have a cable that goes into IN and OUT on the back of the keyboard, on the other end is a female dplug that fits the MIDI port on the soundcard.

I'm not too sure about the settings on the keyboard, I don't have the manual. I have tried many combinations of the settings for the keyboard and my computer and not got a single sound out of my pc that is comeing from the keyboard.

It should be a simple step by step process to get it to work, just that I can't find the right combination of steps and put them together so that it works.

I was told by a friend that I would need drivers, but then I realised that as MIDI is a standard there should be no need. As in, the PC doesnt care what keyboard is attached so long as it speaks MIDI.

Thanks

TMC
