Trouble installing 9000 Pro software

I have an Excaliber 9000 Pro 128MB card. For some reason it won't let me install the drivers or software. A message comes up and says the drivers are not compatible with your display adapter. In the device manager it appears as standard VGA adapter. I've tried removing it from the device manager and updating the drivers, but no luck.

Now this is a new build that after having to RMA a mobo and HD I finally got up and running. Before I sent the first mobo back the software installed just fine.

MSI KT4 Ultra
Athlon 1700+ tbred B
512MB Kingston HyperX PC2700
WD 80g SE
Excaliber 9000 PRO 128MB
Win98

thats pretty weird. First off what drivers were you usuing? The ATI Catalysts are the ones your looking for. Just head over to http://mirror.ati.com/support/driver.html enter in the approriot info for your card. This should be "Graphic Driver/Windows 98/Radeon Family/Go". Now install the driver as told, and see if that solves the problem.

The driver I'm trying to install is straight off the CD that came with the card.

well it couldn't hurt trying the ATI ones. It should remedy the situation. The disk you have might be trying to install the XP version. I'd give the ATI ones a shot as it doesn't make any sense for it to be doing what it is doing.

Well I solved half the problem. For some reason when I installed Win98 it didn't install all of the drivers. It for some reason decided to do it when I fired it up this time. So I tried to install the Excaliber software again. It recognizes the 9000 in the device manager but won't install the drivers. Says files needed are not on the disc and to insert the ATI disc. Well it's already in. Does the same thing with the new ATI catalyst.
