Intel Application Accelerator?

Hey I installed this program called Intel Application Accelerator and its supposed to make intel proccesors and chipsets faster but after installation whenever i did anything harddrive intensive (searching, loading a big video file, etc...) my comp will freeze for 2secs and than work fine for another 2 secs and freeze agin and work until it finishes its work with the harddrive, I read the help file that came along with the util and it sed that it was for pentium 3 and 4 proccesors but i have a 1.2 ghz celeron. Weird thing is it never showed any errors during installation or when running the app. Also I notice that some things detect my celeron as a pentium 3 1.2ghz with SSE. But I dint think that the application accelerator would do that because the Intel frequancy detector described it as a celeron 1.2ghz, anyway, I uninstalled the thing and it worked fine but im still confused about why some application detect celerons as pentium 3's?

Same core, different cache.
Also, installing that program probably changed some drivers, causing the misdetection.

yeah but wat caused the harddrive problem and is it fixable? also if i could fix it how much of a performance increase does the intel application accelerator give?

Is DMA still enabled. If it switched to some older PIO mode, that could cause CPU hogging.

good point, ill install it and check the dma thingy, can i find it in device manager? or the motherboard bios?
