Switch management software

Anyone knows where to find switch management software for the 3com superstackII 630 switch? I've searched 3com's site and only found a .bin file to update the firmware I guess. But nothing to help setup the switch. It works ok so far with no problems but I want to access it and take advantage of anything it may have to offer.

Even any 3rd party switch management software that can access this switch will be helpful.

...I don't think there are any setups or extra features for switches..there's nothing to manage.

You mean to say you can't find what you want here?
A simple 2 minute search using the resident IE engine for "3com Superstack 2 630 switch management software".

Telexen,
Welcome to the real world of networking (otherthan home networking) where some routers are managed from remote locations.

QoS, VLANs, trunking, traffic shaping, ACLs, routes, all kinds of stuff to deal with in a switch. As well as monitoring with SNMP. If so inclined you can even graph traffic.

Superstack II Switch Management Guide could help (covers the 630). Usually on 3com kit you can just telnet in, connect via a serial line or through a web browser (default username/password is manager/manager).

Regards

eddy

Telexen - oh yeah, I'm just starting to mess with switches and I've found out theres a lot you can do as far and managing them is concerned.

Toad - I found that page too and what im talking about is not on that page I don't think, unless its buried in one of the pdf files. As far as I've checked, the only thing on that page is the s2s02 70.exe and that's the .bin file im talking about. I've installed it and as far as I can tell nothing happens.

Since I last posted I found in the switch management guide a reference to snmp and they recommend using the "3com transcend enterprise manager software". I just searched and that's about $5000+. lol Any recomendations on something cheaper? Like free.

I'm trying to find out the easiest way to reset to factory default settings and to find out just what those settings are. Then I can try what SpookyEddy is suggesting. I've tried pinging different ipaddresses in my networks subnetmask and so far nothing. I'm going to continue that until I find something else to try.

Thanks to everyone for all your help so far.

Also meant to mention that I'm also trying to use random ip addressesin my networks subnet range to browse into the switch.

Does the switch not have a serial port?
