Kids Board won't boot except for CMOS reset?

I'm building a frankencomputer out of parts for my kid. I'm not a newbie, but I'm not a pro at this, either. I'd appreciate a second set of eyes and maybe a suggestion. I've dug around the forums for an hour looking for ideas and I've tried a few things I've found but nothing works.

New MSI Mobo FSB 533 (PCChips 935)
New Celeron 2.0 GHz
New ATX Power Supply 350w
256MB SDRAM 133

Won't boot at all. Checked out CPU on working box and it powers up. Checked out PSU with voltmeter and it checks. RAM is from previously working computer. Etc.

Mobo is from PCUSA.com and came in the wrong box. One page on jumper settings and that's it. Bought from them before with no problems, but never again.

I moved the CMOS reset jumper from 1-2 to 2-3 and it suddenly powers up and I can get to CMOS settings. However, they never stick and they never recognize HD settings. Is this the way the CMOS reset is supposed to work or was is set in the wrong position to start? I assumed that pins 1-2 were those to the left when looking at the board from the front, but maybe I was wrong. When I moved the jumper back and let it sit a while, it still won't boot.

I'm kinda pounding my head on the desk right now. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Eric

PCChips 935EL? Manual here. According to this, pins 1-2 are short, 2-3 or normal, for CMOS (JP3). Pin 1 closest to PCI slots.

Not sure what else to suggest right now.

Cheers
Mick

BTW, Welcome to techIMO. Hope you get some good help.

Thank you for the reference. I'm downloading it now. As I look at the one page sheet I got from pcusa (may they rot) was actually for the 925 board. No wonder it's backwards.

I looked at several other hardware boards, but this one had the highest s/n ratio.

Thanks again.

Followup

Mick, thanks for pointing out the pin problem. I pulled down the 935 manual and got everything running in short order. My kid is now tearing the heck out of Spy Fox and Pajama Sam (he's 5).

I'm not very happy with PCUSA. I won't be buying from them again.
