Kids Making backups of game and app CDs, HELP!!

First time post. Hey all I just bought a new computer and tons of games and applications. Of course they come on CDs, and so my question is, if I want to make perfect copies of these game and app CDs of mine (for personal use of course), what software out there will let me do this? I always seem to find a way to damage my originals, and backup copies would be perfect for me.

Something similar to DVD X-copy, but for game and app CDs would be great. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Oh, one more thing. This may be obvious but the greatest concern I have is overcomming the copyright protection guards embedded into the CDs. I tried using a standard copying program but failed during the middle of it due to those protections. I need to make perfect duplicates since I'm a clutz. Thanks for your help!

There's no need for double posting.

if they are for personal use you could just install the game and fine a nocd crack.

I'd probably suggest purchasing something like alcohol 120% and make ISO's of the disks in question. This will work for most disks but some are copy protected. For those I don't think the companies really want you copying them so I'd suggest buying a quality cd book to hold them all safely. That way they will be easy to get at, hard to lose, and kept in good condition

Check out http://www.gamecopyworld.com for copy protect emulation tools and game protection info (a database is on the site), 9/10 times you'll need cracks for game unless youre cd-writer can copy subchannel data (for securom) and there you'll need emulation tools to get past SafeDisc 2.x discs...

When your on the site, look for Insektors 3 and Daemon tools, Alcohol 120% and CloneCD work fine once you've got the protection bypassed.

Keep it legit, dude. :P

Wow, thanks for all the great replies guys! Just one thing, ... what's a crack ?

Cracks are something different from the Insektor program option? Also to be clear, I should use the Insektor program to bypass the protection most CDs have? What's 'fixing' my ISO? Man am I clueless.

Is there a good place I can go to that'll have a "dummies" guide to doing this? I'd hate to keep on posting replies everytime I don't understand something .

FYI, I have the Sony DRU-500A DVD+RW, but don't know if it copies sub-info.

Also, how can you tell if a game or an app is a Safedisc-2? Is it trial and error type of thing?

REDWOLF posted [I use Alchohol 120%. For Safedisc-2 based games, very, VERY few burners can exactly replicate a Safedisc-2 disc. For that, I use the excellent Insektor program. You have to 'fix' your ISOs, and you have to have the program's driver installed and all of it's options checked whilst you run the game (You can probably get away with not hiding CD/RW), but it's MUCH better than using cracks to copy your games. ] How is this method?

I've been told that there's no such thing as stupid questions, but I'm beginning to believe there are such things . Thanks for your help guys!!
