winfaxpro help needed

I am having problems connecting to certain fax machines using WinfaxPro. There appears to be a built in timer or ring counter that aborts the connection attempt if connection is not made in a certain amount of rings or a specified time frame. I have listened in on the connecrtion attempt and the computer disconnects about 2 rings before the receiving fax machine makes the connection. The disconnect on the modem is set for 120 seconds but the software disconnects after about 60 seconds.
Where is this setting, if it exists, located?
Thanks

Welcome to TechIMO!

I don't see anything in my program that effects the disconnect of a call. Modem maybe?

Thanks for your reply. I set the modem disconnect to 120 seconds. When iI dialed the number on the phone to verify it It rings about 12 times before the target fax machine picks up. The program disconnects after 10 rings every time.

Not trying to be funny, but I personally hang up after 5 rings myself.

Can the ones your trying to fax change their settings?

12 is way too much. WinFax is detecting no answer and quitting. You can set the number of retries for no answer in "user setup".

Thanks Bill. I managed to trick the software into placing the fax by turning the "detect dial tone" option off, manually phoning the number and hitting the send button after about 5 rings. It's not pretty but it got the fax through. Still looking for a long term solution though.

Is it only when calling certain fax machines or does that happen everytime?

Seems like the problem here is with making the initial connection. Wouldn't slowing down the modem help here? Last I heard fax machines only worked at 14.4 baud.

It is only one specific fax machine that I am having problems reaching. The Issue is the amount of rings/ time it takes for the target fax machine to pick up. I managed to make the connection by hand dialing a phone on the same line then hitting send after several rings, thus decreasing the time/rings before "pick up" and allowing my computer to connect. When the connection was made in this manner there were no communication issues.
