WIN 98 Networking Problem
This weekend I had to swap out a failing MB in the kid's computer. I'm trying to get it going without doing a reformat/reinstall (so I don't have to reinstall about a million games that he plays)
The MB swap went from an old KT133A based board to a Leadtek Winfast 7350 KDA (SIS 735 based) board.
I have everything working properly, except for networking. I removed all the old stuff from device manager in safe mode, then installed the drivers for the onboard Realtek NIC chip. I couldn't get it to work, and had problems with hanging on shutdown, hanging on startup, etc. I then disabled the onboard NIC and went back to my trusty Intel PCI NIC - but had the same problem. (The Intel NIC worked fine with the old MB, and the computer works fine as long as the network stuff is disabled or not installed)
I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Windows network protocols, but that didn't help either.
Any other suggestions I can try to get this thing working before I give up and reformat??
