First Time Builder. I need Help.

I have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe and xp 2200 processor. 1GB Corsair Twin X memory and a codegen 6049-c10. I have a pre-set hard drive and a geforce 5200 128mb video card. When I install the bare minimums nothing beeps, and it doesn't go to post. When I install the video, memory it does not show anything. Can anyone help me. I am building this for a friend and never encountered a problem before. Thanks.

This may sound stupid, but you did make sure to ground yourself when you handled everything right? If you didn't try to OC it or anything the first time around that seems to be the only logical way to fry his proc.

Are your fans running? Have you re-checked all the power connections...MB, HDD, etc.?

Just what does happen when you power up?

You could have also 'cracked' your processor...

GO Back, Retrace all your steps and make sure everything is plugged in and properly seated.

And try Clearing the cmos. You may also have to reload windows if your using a hard drive from a pre existing unit.

#1 Clear CMOS

First off - welcome to TechIMO

My standard procedure when I run into that type of problem is to pull the MB out & build it outside the case (just lay it on the table on top of the antistatic bag).

Clear the CMOS as someone else suggested, then just plug in the CPU and fan, one stick of RAM, and a VID card - and see if it will POST.

If it doesn't POST - you have to swap out the RAM/processor/vid card with known good parts until you find the problem. (I know - that can be difficult if you don't have any spare parts laying around, but I don't know any alternatives.)

Once you get it to POST, put it back in the case and add one component at a time. Check after each component is installed to make sure it still works.
