it might. Since a labtop uses batteries, you won't find labtop hard drives that run faster than 5400 RPM. Most of them run at 4800 RPM. Todays desktops have 7200rpm or 10000rpm hard drives so data transfer, reading, and writing will be better than labtop hard drives. I think the hard drive will slow you down.
