Any of you still playing the original Tribes? I've just recently picked up this game again after forgetting about it for about a year, and I have to say that it is one of the best FPS I have ever played. Thoughts?

I used to play T1 a lot. Until T2 came. Now I play T2 only sometime when I want a break from Battlefield or Unreal.

But I do miss the jetpack. And skiing.

Maybe Tribes: Vengence will be hits the spot.

Ya, Tribes is a good addictive game with good multiplayer features. That is why it was awarded best multiplayer game of the year 1999 by some gaming journals and websites. I used to play it but now as the newer games are getting bigger in size(Enter the Matrix requires about 3.2GB) I had to delete it due to disk space factor.

The strange thing is multiplayer games like BF1942 and other s are only getting to the point to compete with the scale of maps (with vehicles) in Tribes1 and Tribes2.

It's funny though, whenever I play T1 or T2 after not playing it awhile- the whole jump jets are refreshing. But then, if I continue for awhile-- when I go back to UT/Quake etc... I miss that whole vertical aspect of the FPS.

I picked up UT2k3 a few months back, and played that for awhile. And I totally agree with the whole missing the vertical aspect of the map. Not to mention that refreshing feeling when you midair someone with a disc.

Any stories on the absolute luckiest/weirdest/coolest shot you ever saw or did yourself in a game of tribes?

Coolest midair I ever saw was this:

Rollercoaster was the map. Light comes in skiing pretty fast, not the fastest or best route I have ever seen, but still fast. A heavy next to me launches a mortar as the light comes up over the hill. He's pretty far above the hill when the mortar hits him mid air, and blows his body all over the place. I couldn't move for the rest of the round. I was absolutely stunned. Never have seen someone midair with a mortar, don't think I ever will again.

I have done quite a few mid air mortors before and some have been from a very long distance, MA greande launcher is another fav and much easier to do, MA snipe headshots (when ur in the air too) are always impressive too, especially if you have their flag and are being chased.

If you wanna do tricky stuff just keep trying and you will eventually.

Woe unto you who is near a fellow and then zombie-killed. It's better if you were killed and then you took out your killer that way.
