Outdoors AOL Download Linkage

Grrrrrrrr

I really hate to admit that I need to install AOL on a customers computer.

I have tried downloading it (version 8) from various links on their site last night and this morning and each time the page times out (I have cable). Googleing it gets the same results. What gives? Does AOL figure that since they polluted the planet with a quadzillion CD's that there is no reason to download it??

Does anyone have any working download link for AOL v.7 or 8? Before you ask, all of the AOL CD's I come across go for skeet shooting so I currently don't have one available .

TIA!

Mike

OK, now I'm getting more PO'ed .

I've tried it from 4 different computers. The last one I tried downloading it using Mozillia, Opera, and Netscape with the same results. For crying out loud, they own Netscape and the linkage doesn't even work from there.

I find it hard to believe that their servers are so overloaded from people downloading it that in the past 24 hours they can't handle the network traffic . Or maybe it's because they only have two servers setup and they are probably Packard Bell PI 133's.

Well, I'm not going to start my day (and week) this way. There are too many local dial-up ISP's. I'll add this to my ever growing list of reasons to hate AOHell.

Taz, far be it from me to defend AOL, but I'm not having any trouble with that site. Does the problem lie with your ISP?

And I'll go along with RicheemxX; it would have taken you less time to run out to the store and pick up a few AOL CDs than solve your download problems.

Wow. I just tried that link I posted on a few different computers here. Worked for me.

You could always go up to the local drugstore and pickup any gaming/computer magazine and get a AOL disk in there with the game/program demos...

Sorry I couldn't get back to this thread right away - too busy driving down to the store .

I still couldn't get it to work this morning - not a big deal since I got the CD, installed it and the computer is out of here.

Y'all, I did relize about running to the store (which, where I live, it is a ride) so please don't think I'm that lazy . My point was it should work.

OK, maybe I am lazy and have gotten to rely on cable too much.

Here's what drove me nuts. I have two cable modems (different ip's) with two routers with an average of 7 - 10 computers set up over two seperate networks. None of those computers could download AOL (one even has AOL installed on it). I generally would think it was something I "tweaked" on my main boxes but what are the odds that none would (or will) download AOL?

My take, maybe as osprey4 mentioned and it lies with the ISP (Adelphia). Dunno, maybe I'll give them a call today if I have time. Yep, I did spend too much time on it but it's one of those things that I will keep with until I figure out why it's happening. It baffles me that it would let me to the site but not download. Very strange.

BTW soulja - good link! I was able to download AOL v.5 from there.
