IGMP is filling my log

I've been running without firewall since 1997, but recently I installed one. I notice that my logs are filled with blocked IGMP communications.

I include an example of my log. If I printed it, it would probably end up as 12 pages like that PER DAY.

What's the meaning of this ?

Look like pings from something - maybe your ISP?

Or does your ISP have a "heartbeat" signal, like mine? Looks like an ISP domain (181-011-cormier-56k.9bit.qc.ca).

Can you get your firewall to exclude those addresses from the ISP?

Cheers
Mick

IGMP is used for setting up multicast groups, I don't think it has anything to do with ICMP echo requests (aka pings). Could be horribly wrong though
