how do i remove a partion on my hard drive

i currently had XP pro on when installing Linux Mandrake and it created another partion, how do i have it just delete windows and install On to that hard drive with no partions. now i have two partions and i can't get rid of one. its a Extend. i tried Fdisk but it keep telling me i must remove Logical but i try but then it say Remove the Extend Partion, it just goes back and forth what do i do to erase that extend partion keep the primary and get all my space back. and then reinstall linux and have it overwrite over windows or delete it.

You can do it with Partition Manager, or simpler with DELPART, you can find the latter free on the web, it's a simple .exe

Partition Magic is really the only way I have been able to fix this problem in the past. You can do that, or you can take the hdd to a Macintosh and have their partitioning software do it. I have had to do this in a pinch as well. I felt kind of dirty afterwords, too. I mean...it IS a Mac...

you could low-level format your hard drive.

FDISK cannot recognize partitions of Linux types (as you no doubt have guessed )

DELPART is a good utility, but I personally recommend Ranish Partition Manager for all your needs now and in the future. This thing will regonize and work with ANY partition available to ANYONE out there.
