.exe with Mandrake Linux
i installed Mandrake Linux 9.1 and i tried to download and take some files of a cd and it won't open, it tells me to look for a program that will open that, im completly lost on that, i like the linux its also my first linux OS i used and im still getting used to it, and its programs, like the Browsers,Email,FTP, all that. was very confusing at first. ahh, windows is much easier but alot of ppl say linux is more professional so i ran it in KDE & GNOME. GNOME is a bit easier but NEWBIE, and KDE is more professional.

.exe files are windows files, won't work with Linux. Look here: http://www.techimo.com/forum/t69163.html
You'll get used to the apps soon enough. Lots of stuff there. Just give yourself some time to get used to it. There was a thread around here somewhere that listed Linux equivalents of Windows apps. I'll see if I can find it.
Mike EDIT: link fixed

Linux comes with it's own set of cd burning programs like k3b, x-cd-roast, etc.

well, since you're running linux you should look within the many apps it has itself.
arson and xcdroast are real good for cd burning when you get the hang of it with arson being the most simple as it does decoding and buring all in one program. i got nero and kazaa lite to work in linux but i needed some files from my windows box(actually you need files from win98/ME) and i had to install wine as well which was needed. id look around with all the apps as you can do a search within this forum or what was already posted in this thread to learn.
look here for running windows apps on linux
