java applets not working with new pc

i have just got a new pc with windows xp pro installed on it and i have just noticed that when i go to webcam sites (that run with an applet) instead of the stream loading i just get a small red x in the top left of the box - does anyone know how to correct this problem - i have looked in the internet options - security tab - custom level - scripting java applets (enabled) - so i dont know what the problem might be.

you probably need a java engine installed.... I believe the new versions of WINXP don't have it installed.

just go here www.sun.com

and download the java engine.

It's included with SP1 also, go to Windows update if it's not already installed.

cheers the probs sorted - i did however have sp1 already installed but it didnt install java - i went to the sun site and downloaded and that did the trick
