what does this error mean?

hi, yesterday i was playing rambow six raven shield and the game just disappeared andi got this error. does anyone know what it means and why i would get this kind of error?

I know this doesn't help ya much, but if not to comfort you at least...I've gotten that same error when I used to play UT and I never did figure out what was wrong. I reported the bug several times as well, but I never did hear anything about it. I have to admit to using cracked "NO CD" exe files though, so that may have been a problem for me anyway.

Is that the first time you've seen that error?

General Protection Fault... usually some indeterminate generic glitch that causes a crash. Has it happened more than once or keep occuring? Does the game run ok now?

If it keeps happening you could try either the video card maker or the games support site FAQ's and see if that particular error message is listed or addressed.

I get that with UT2003 once in a while...just a simple glitch. If it keeps happening you might try uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

thanx guys, and yes i am using a nocd crack, i HATE putting in the cd every single time i play a game. this is the first time this had happened since i got my comp (bout 1 year ago). the game has played fine after this error.

Eck...nocd cracks. I find it better to use Dameon tools. Use Insektors if you have problems with Safedisc 1/2 copy-protection. That way patching the game isn't a big issue.

the game is ridden with these general protection faults. 2 things u can do :


1. get the latest videocard drivers (44.65) - www.guru3d.com
2. get patch v1.3 - www.3dgamers.com

Usually I get this kind of crash when I'm overclocking the PC too far. Some games just don't seem to like being O/ced

humm........ that might be it too, i got it OC'd from 1.7 to 1.87ghz.
