Windows Updates

Hi,

Is there anyway of downloading all the updates that Windows thinks you need overnight or something. I just checked mine and I have nearly 40 Mb of downloads to do. I only have a 64k connection.

What version of Windows are you running? XP came by default with the automatic option installed. I think you can just install it with just about any other version of Windows that still supported however.

I switched the auto updates off on mine.

edit.. I put auto updates back on but not to install, at least now I get a choice.

Well...there is one trick...

When you download the updates, they're saved to C:\WUTemp ... if you download them, then CANCEL the installation...you can get a copy of those files..then go ahead and run it again, the files will be already downloaded so you can skip that and just install them

Why can't you just run the normal Windows Update before you go to bed? What's the difference?

Try that one, it always works for me since i keep my updates for later use.

Cause not everyone looks at their computer on a regular basis. And downloading the updates late at night or early in the morning w/o installing them is a pretty efficient way of going about things. I'd never use that feature but I think it's a pretty clever one.
