Swap slave HD to master

Probably a simple thing but I'm having trouble none the less. Here's the situation. I have a pc with a 40 Gb HD (2 partitions C: and D: ). A win xp installation is on the C:.I have a new 120 Gb HD. I've plugged the 120 Gb HD in as slave and created two partitions (F: and G: ) so that I could copy my files from the old HD to the new one.

Now I'd like to use only the 120 Gb so I can plug the 40 Gb into an old machine. I have installed win xp pro on the F: of the 120 Gb but at this point it's still slave.

How can I remove the 40 Gb without everything going boink? I've tried setting the 120 Gb drive as master and the 40 Gb as slave but it start shouting for the NTLDR...

Any ideas?

Thanks

Martin

Try checking out this MS KB article about BOOT.INI and ARC Path Naming Conventions and Usage.

Can't you get the Files and Transfer settings to work?

I'll have a look at the article. Cheers.
The file and setting transfer works fine but it doesn't really help me in this matter.

I could wipe the whole 120 gb again and install win xp from scratch but I'll go for the easy solution first

Send a message via AIM to Tomteriffic
The other possibility would be to wipe the new drive and then Ghost your older drive to the new one.
