winxp doesn't boot by chkdsk

Yesterday I powered my computer, and the typical screen of chkdsk appeared before starting WinXP, telling last time computer didn't power off correctly, this is a normal situation...
The problem is that after chkdsk has passed his three stages, computer stops, and I have to reboot manually. Every time I power on the computer starts again chkdsk, and when it has checked the disk the computer gets blocked. The only way I can use my PC is by holding some key, so chkdsk is baypassed and every goes fine.
I would like to know how can I make chkdsk not to run every time I boot (that probably I would not care if at least the boot proces continues after the disk get checked). Thank you
