Strange power problem Compaq laptop
I love my thin, light laptop - it's a Compaq Armada M300 and travells with me constantly. For over a year I haven't been able to run it on battery - battery wont charge but it is happy on mains AC supply. Then last week it wouldn't start on AC - nothing, thought it might be power lead so fiddled with that and on it came. But it happened again, this time it was not playing!
Got it home and it worked, it just worked, I did nothing.
I bought a new battery and it charged up no problem. Laptop will not start up on battery power. If I get in on AC then unplug the AC, battery power kicks in but everything freezes. And ... the only way to get it to turn off is to take the battery out.
I've been searching the forum and find other power probs but not quite the same.
Sometimes I do get power on lights and fan noise but no booting up.
Anyone able to help or direct me to sites that could help would be greatly appreciated?
