Hi,
I live in a two story old victorian style home, with a small attic above the second story. The attic has some windows, but has no floor. I live about 3 blocks from my local highschool that I attend, and am interested in setting up a wifi network so my pocket pc can get internet in my classroom. Is this a possibility? I am thinking of getting a high powered access point, like 200 mw, or maybe just the generic Linksys. I could then run an antenna out of my attic and attempt for the best line of sight possible. I'm not sure how well this would penetrate the trees in my neighborhood, or the brick and metal walls of my school. (Its a relatively small school..only about two city blocks to the furthest point). I really don't think I could put an antenna on the pocket pc end, unless I can fashion something into my backpack. I also have a friend that lives about midway between my home and the school. I could set up a repeater station there if possible, but chances are I couldn't use any antennas there as I don't want to take up space there. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!
