removing xp

how do I remove xp so I can reformat the drive and start from a fresh drive I have no floppy drive but I can get one of of my old 100mhz computer

You will need a floppy. Boot to DOS, run fdisk to reformat HD.

If you're going to install Windows 98 or ME then use a bootdisk...but if you're going to NT, 2000, a re-installation of XP, or linux then just start the installation of the new OS and you'll be given the option of formatting the drive.

I am planning on re-installing windows xp from the oem disk I got from the computer company. now if there is a format hard drive in that start up disk do I just format it restart and it will detect it and I am on my way or do I need a floppy drive

Make sure that in your BIOS you have set the boot order to point to your CD drive then put your XP disk in and reboot. XP setup will give you the option to reformat the harddrive.

The partition/formatting is part of the installation...simply boot and follow instructions

There's no choice in formatting either. That's the only way to eliminate XP completely.
