Window Problem - Solution

I began work a few weeks ago on a desktop case for my girlfriend and ran into a slight snag when i was all but finished... i had cut 2 star shaped windows in the sides and was getting ready to attach the plexi when i realized that the back of the case was just wide enough to fit the top over (see attachment). I didnt want to hagve to cut into the back of the case cuz that woulda been ugly. I was telling my girlfriend about the delima when she came up with the idea to use aceotate(sp?) (thin plastic like teachers use(d) for overhead projector transparancies) With a little Krazy Glue it ended up working perfectly!

Not a bad idea for small van windows like that...good call. Just don't let anyone poke that sucker out

I've been tapping on them to make sure they're tight and so far they've been nice and strong but i agree that the only downside is the thickness being so little that a good jab will put a nice hole in one

Good job! In the pics the metal looks pretty thick. Was it and how long did it take you to do this?

It looks like sheet aluminum. What kind of case panel is that? Is that one piece that covers the whole case?

i'm not sure what kind of metal it is exactly it's an old dell desktop case (the panel slides on and off covering all 3 sides) i got from my work cuz they were gonna pitch it... it took me about an hour to cut 2 3.5" tall stars and about 25 cut-off discs but my girlfriend loves it so it was worth it

Oh, my Presario in the den has the same kind of case cover. I hate those. It's so dam hard to put it on. It has to go on just right or it won't fit.

yeah it's being a real pain in the @rse and on top of that, the chasis is all bent to hell so getting the bezel on is posing a problem too... but im crafty and diligent so it WILL work out.. im puttin a blue cathode in along the bottom of the front (under the drive cages) and adding blue LEDs so it should look pretty sweet when it's all done ill post more pics
