Systems SCSI/IDE command aborted

I am struggling to figure out what is wrong when I try to backup some of my DVD's. I am using an external DVD writer (HP DVD300e) attached via a USB 2.0 connection to a DVD laptop (2 ghz, Pentium 4). I am about 50% successful using NERO V.35. When it does not work I get the following log from NERO. I apologize for the amount of text but I'm not sure what is needed to help. Can anyone help this serious Newbie?

Work scsi command aborted

hi there
Windows nt based systems ie nt and xp sometimes have a clash between the scsi drivers and nero. This happens when u use the manufacturers ide drivers.
Fix: Delete the manufacturers drivers in the device manager. Reload windows. It will install the generic ide drivers. U will then need to boot twice once for the ide drivers and once to recgonise your cd/dvd roms/writers.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I was beginning to get a complex with the lack of replies. I am currently running on Windows 2000 Professional (do you know if this also has experienced problems similar to the XP). I may have difficulty getting the original window drivers to load back on as this is a work laptop.

I have been using a temporary work around at the moment by disabling my internal CD Writer/DVD player and just using the external HP DVD writer. This seems to work better as I have less coasters to deal with but the process is taking longer than I think it should.

May well be the case with 2000 also. I would serch out your drivers at www.driverguide.com Once you have these delete the manufacturers drivers. Windows should load its own. If this doesnt work reload the manufacturers drivers. Good luck!
