best model nVidia offers is exceedingly loud and not so great for the price. Radeon 9500 or 9600 would be a good idea for a fast card for cheap IMO.
re the RAM upgrade, more ram is ALWAYS gonna help, so the more you can throw at it then the better. I'm at 640MB at the moment on my main box (384 on my iBook) and i don't do much gaming
hope i've been of any help, mate.

Yes RAM would help a lot
Unless you're doing major video/audio/large photo editing or CAD I wouldn't bother going above 512 or 768 as your rate of return drops off drastically at about that point depending on your OS.. XPig sucks up a bunch of that on its own before the game gets to it so it needs a little more.
If you're using DDR, and you have a mobo that supports it make sure toget the same RAM for a 2nd slot to make sure of Dual DDR benefits.

A new Video Card will help
More memory will help a lot -- not just this game, but everything.
If you do buy a new video card, you may want to consult this first: Video cards that are supported by Star Wars Galaxies
That aside, how is the game? Worth the investment?

-sean | The FX5900 Ultra 256mb is the best nVidia has at the moment, and it is quieter than GeForce4 boards. e-VGA FX5900 Ultra is the fastest one out at the moment for about $499.
The noisy board being referred to is the FX5800 Ultra
Also I agree that another 256mb of Ram for your motherboard would help you a little also.

Greetings,
You're system with the gf2mx should run that game fine.
Is it a straight mx or a mx400 or mx200? If it's an mx200 then that may be the problem. Otherwise, I'd also look at your system drivers and sound card etc. for more issues. I have seen it running absolutely fine on a Duron 800/gf2mx system.
What's the soundcard you are using?
You don't accidentally have antialiasing or something like that switched on do you?
Regards,
Elad.
