Gaming No HDD detected in raid

Alright, brand new motherboard, Soyo KT400 Dragon Ultra Plat. Comes with onboard Highpoint Tech raid controller. No matter what i do, it won't detect the two hard drives i have on the raid IDE channel. Thought maybe the onboard wasn't compatable with something else in my system so i got a Maxtor raid controller card. Same thing. here's what i've tried so far...

1) Unplugged everything but OS drive and raid drives (to make sure it wasn't a power issue), nothing.
2) moved jumpers around on hdd's.. nothing.
3) tried each drive one at a time.. nothing
4)replaced IDE cable 2x...nothing
5)made sure the onboard was disabled, and vise versa, still

I have no idea what else i could do.

...help?...

Sys. Specs:

Athlon XP 2000+
512 PC2100 DDR
Soyo KT400 Dragon Ultra Platinum
Sound Blaster Audigy
Geforce 3 TI200
2 20gig Western Digital HDD
2 40gig Western Digital HDD
TDK CD-RW Burner
Creative 16x DVD-ROM
Win XP Pro

On Western Digital Caviar drives, if the drive is the only one on the IDE cable, you need to REMOVE the Master/Slave jumper and leave it out.

This is the "Master with no slave present" configuration.

Yeah, I know. I've tried that as well. Single, Master, Cable Select, etc.. nothing seems to work. and there are two drives on the raid controller, not just one.

Is this a new install or are you hotswapping motherboards? I recommend that you install the OS while the drive is connected to IDE 1, load the RAID drivers, move the drive to the RAID channel, then change the boot order in the BIOS. Of course if you did install the OS while the HD was on the RAID channel, did you hit F6 to install the proper RAID drivers during setup?

I'm sure you're missing something easy here, this is a fairly common problem.

Mike

It's a hotswap from an dead board, replaced witih identical RMA'd board. I've already tried running the XP setup and installing the raid, but the thing is, it won't even detect the drives BEFORE it even gets to start to load Windows. So i'm fairly sure that XP isn't the main culprit here.

Are you talking while the OS HD is on the RAID channel or on IDE1? Yes I realize you're using more than one HD, but I'm focusing on your OS drive for now.

What type of adapter is the RAID controller? (ie: LSI, Adaptec, etc...)

The onboard raid controller was by Highpoint Technology. The other one i bought to see if it was the onboard is a Maxtor.

Is this using the same bios you were using before? or is it an older version?
I have an onboard and raid controller, i had to update my bios to the latest version to get them to work together properly.
I don't have the same motherboard, but i have seen other boards have a similar problem.
