How do I install a 122key Keyboard from 1985?

I got this cool lookin keyboard from a hand-me-down shop and it's got 122 keys, that includes 24 F keys (1-12+12 more) a set of 10 keys in 2 rows of 5 to the left and an extra misc sum-odd 2-4 on the right.

I tried the ADD-REMOVE Hardware to install a new keyboard since WIN XP PRO didn't recognize it at boot, and I can't seem to get it to see the keyboard or give me the option to install a keyboard that has more than 101/102 keys.

Is there a way to do this? It must have been possible at 1 time, and in no way should DOS be a more capable Operating System at having a keyboard with more than a certain number of buttons. Also if there is a way to add this keyboard (which i am using now without it's full functionality) and then bind the keys that I want where I want? That way I can make it like my old K/B just with more buttons to bind to things for easier access.

If there is a model number, brand,or any designating mark on the bottom of the keyboard, you can prolly find a driver at www.driverguide.com using the username/password drivers/all.
I'd like a follow-up if possible because I'd like to find a keyboard like that.

Part #: 1392149
IBM: (Of Course)
ID # : 1008078
Date: 29FEB88
PLT #: F1
Model: M

I guess that means it's a 1988 keyboard eh? Hehe, not 85. Same difference. Anyway, this is the stuff on the back, if you could help me find a driver I will give you a cookie, any flavor. =D

Thanks for the reply.

Check out http://www.pckeyboard.com/ because they claim to either have this model or be able to replicate it. If they sell them, they must have drivers for them, right? There's an 800 number at their site so give 'em a call.
I checked driverguide.com and found nothing. All the models there are IBM KB-***** and nothing matched yours.
Good luck!

You sure that's not an "xt" keyboard? If it has a ps\2 connector it's probably not.

EDIT: does it have a switch on the bottom?

There's no switch.

It's the "Oldie" port. AT. I had to buy an adapter to get it to become PS2......as you can see I want these keys to function.

IF DOS can make this run, I see no clear reason why XP can't make it run :|

You'd be suprised what kind of peripherals are un-supported in Win XP. I have a Microsoft Phone, about 3 years old, that cannot be used with WinXP. No driver updates, no software patches, nothing short of switching back to 98 will get this thing to run in Win XP. WinXP won't even let the installation software LOAD.

Big thumbs up, M$.

MS probably doesn't include drivers in XP because it's not a common keyboard that would be installed on an XP system. That's my theory.

MS expects you to have the latest and greatest hardware.

We still have those keyboards connected to computers at my place of employment. Mind you, the computer is still running DOS only.
