Looking for remote control software feature

At work, there is a machine that needs to be remote controlled. The machine is a Win98 and all it does is run a DOS software in a window and some people have to interact with it.

For some menus, the ALT key needs to be pressed alone to change a line. When remote controlled, the ALT keystroke doesn't get to the DOS window.

For example, you can focus on Explorer's File menu with a single ALT stroke, but when the DOS window has the focus, the ALT stroke doesn't work.

Softwares tried : Netmeeting, VNC, Remote Admin.

Is there a way to force it to get through ? Some shortcut properties maybe ? Another remote administration software ?

I think you should try VNC again, and instead of using the ALT key, try sending and ALT command from the window menu.

I'm fairly sure you can do this with TightVNC at least, and think it can be done with vanilla VNC as well. I know it works fine in winNT, winXP and win2k.

The only thing I'm not sure about is if this is actually supported in win9x or not. I know you can't use the menu CTRL-ALT-DEL function in win9x, so maybe there is no way to do this from VNC.

Good luck with this.

Cheers
Mick

I can't send ALT with VNC, only ATL down or ALT up.
