Sony GRZ-610

It keeps on crashing, it just randomly crashes! I've reinstalled windows 5 times and it keeps happening, please tell what could be wrong so I can report this problem and hopefully replace my computer and get help. Thanks, Mike

1) Check Your Memory. Make sure it is In The slots Properly. Reinsert them. Replace If Necessary.

How long Before it crashes, after it starts up??

What did you do, before it started Crashing???

Need more Info to help any further..................

Hmmpfh, is that the PCG-GRZ610 laptop that you have there? If so, you might want to avoid tinkering around with the innards. Here is a page you could bookmark for future reference:

What operating system are you using? XP?

Did the problems occur before or after you re-installed windows?

Have you installed all of the latest drivers (video) and updates (...run windows update...)?

As previously asked, what are you doing when the computer restarts? Working in notepad or running 3-d intensive apps?

Bad memory, bad hard drive, bad video card... Could be any number of things.

Does it give you any sort of specific blue screen, or just reset? Is it making any strange noises, like marbles falling on glass (only quieter) or something of the sort?

You may want to download SiSoft Sandra and run the memory check program, or find another one that does the same thing. Memory, hard drive, or video would be my first thoughts. Possibly an overheating CPU.
