Best PCI Video Card for CnC Generals 1.5ghz 128mb RAM

My friend has a 1.5 GHz 128mb RAM Dell Dimension 2350, and does not support AGP video cards. Which video card can he get that will make CnC Generals run smoothly?

-MX 440
-Radeon 7500
-Xtasy 9100
-FX 5200

There are many different types of each card, so please specify what kind for each.

He's buying from CompUSA. Considering his system specs, which card will give him optimum performance for CnC Generals?

Thank you.

PS- Im confused as to the ATI Radeon 7500 and the Visiontek Xtasy Radeon 9100. They are both Radeon? What's the difference?

One is made by ATI, the other is made by Visiontek using ATI's specs.

Id say the FX5200. Its is DX9 compat and has pretty good specs for the price. Then again, you may just want to get the 7000 and save money for a new mobo that has agp.

The PCI 9100 card is the fastest of those listed. In particular, the PCI GeForce 5200 is very slow because the GF chips must run a very low clock speed to fit into a PCI slot's low power budget.

one thing i would say about that computer before you buy a pc video card, is that if the agp card built into the motherboard can be disabled. i have seen this problem with many machines being that the new pci card cannot be used as the "master card " becasue the one built into the motherboard cannot be disabled in the bios or by jumpers.

Peter M is correct on this decision. The 9100 will offer you the best performance. True, it is not DX9, but it is DX8, which is what C&C Generals uses.

As for gameplay smoothness, you may need to adjust the video settings for maximum playability. Although the card is based on Radeon 8500 technology, it is on the PCI bus which will hinder performance a bit.

Yeah, that's wierd... the title of the card specified it was "PCI". I emailed them to find out if it was an error or something. Thanks for noticing that.

Yeah underclocked, i emailed them and they said they screwed up on the description. Looks like they are pretty careless. So it is a PCI video card. I saw those ratings and they don't look great, but money was important to him, and i can't find any other place that sells it for less. Maybe they are a ripoff?
