i have th is pc i just put together but all i have for xp cd's are this 5 restore cd's from my compaq that i just replaced with this pc i just built, i also have a emachine with its discs also plus i have several attempted copies of xp and xp pro . well at 1 i tried the compaq and they got me to the install product key and wouldnt accept any of them and then i tried my wifes emachine's cd's and it installed fine but when i reboot it comes to the screen as if i pressed f8 when i choose which option it stops the counter at about 20-23 and seems to lock up i have let it sit fopr about a hour and still stuck!! DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE IS A WAY TO PIECE TOGETHER A INSTALLABLE COPY out of what i have PLEASE ANYONE KNOW?????

I doubt you'll be able to restore that Compaq setup on your new machine...they usually set those up for the specific models of their own systems.

Though Compaq is owned by HP, and my HP restore discs are just PowerQuest Drive Image images...I'm not sure how they'd limit you with that.
