ok I think this will work I have a old 1.7ghz computer at home collecting dust, can I have that computer conect to the dsl/cable modem then that computer conect to the router. I also have a mcafee 7.0 virus scan an that computer will it use the fire wall as well as the virus scan.

yes you can , but why would you do this ? put the router before it .

ok i understand now . yes you can do it that way but the router should have a hardware firewall in it also .

how out of date do you think the fire walls can get on the router with the firewall on the computer you can easly update it, and extra protection 2+ firewalls to get to the other computers
