i just bought the abit motherboard from newegg.com and is it the version 2.0 the board is abitnf7-s

Easier said than done. They might have both versions, updated pages since when you bought, ect. Look at the box it came in. Look at the receipt. Look at the mobo. One of those should tell you.

ok does it have be a 2.0 to work with the newer processors i just start building me a pc and i just order that motherboard so maybe i will be able to tell when i get it in the mail

Dont think so. It'll work with procs up to XP 3000+.

Where you got the mobo. http://www.newegg.com You want at least 512mb of pc2700. To use the dual channel mode of your mobo, get 2 256 sticks of ram.
