Installing a printer

and having problems with it.

I'm doing that on a computer with Win 98 and it's a brand new board that i installed a couple of weeks ago (Gigabyte K7 Triton).

My friend got a printer (Canon BJC 4400) for free, it's an old one, i installed the drivers that i found on the web for Win 98 and when i try to print it gives me the error that the printer is not online.

I tried another cable and still the samething....what i'm i doing wrong here

I'm using a Canon BJC-240L which I think is an older model of the BJC than what your using. I'm using it with Windows XP and it works fine. I'm pretty sure you're using an LPT cable. Make sure the cable is secure tight and use the pins to hold it secure on the printer. I didn't need to install any drivers for it, Windows XP automatically detected it. I recommend you uninstall those drivers and try without them.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the dawn thing so many times now that i'm just tired of doing it.

I changed ECP for EPP in the BIOS and still the same. I have the rights drivers for Win 98 (which is what is on that specific computer) and still not working.

Like i said i tried my own cable from my printer and it's still not doing anything.

Will have to try to plug that printer on my computer (XP Pro and see if it's going to work now.

I installed that printer on my XP Pro and still doesn't work so it probably need some repairs.
