if you downloaded then from the Animatrix website then you should need Quicktime to view the files. if you downloaded the entire movie then it's not the official download.
no i think what they are saying is that if you downoaded the complete Animatrix series of animations then you have prob got a pirate copy as i dont think that all the episodes were available for download.
A pirate movie file is really the same as warez from a copyright/legal point of view and shouldnt be donwnloaded or discussed here.

the number of parts has nothing to do with the codec used to encode it.
Why download it when you can get it on DVD I got the DVD version, it was crisp and clear. I can play it either in English or Japanese with subtitles (though why someone who is not Japanese or who knows little to no Japanese would want to play it in that version) and tons of extras like interviews with Joel Silver, the producer of the Matrix series, interviews with the directors and creators of the animatrix and a sneak peek on Enter the Matrix.
